Brandon Hawkins named South Division Star of the Week
With a six-goal, one-assist week, Tornado forward Brandon Hawkins was named South Division Star of the Week for the period ending on October 7th. He is the second Tornado player to be given the award this season; Justin Greenberg won it on September 17th after an eight-point performance at the Combat Hockey/NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minn. The Tornado played three games this week, and Hawkins featured prominently in all of them. Last Thursday, the Tornado traveled to Corpus Christi for two games against the IceRays. Hawkins put IceRays captain Perry D'Arrisso through the glass with a first-period hit, then came back in the second period and scored a natural hat trick. The next night, Hawkins assisted on a C.J. Reuschlein goal in the first period before scoring two more of his own. The Tornado returned home for a Sunday afternoon contest against Wichita Falls, one which saw Hawkins net another goal before scoring in a shootout, as well. The Tornado won all three games last week and now sit at 8-0-0 to begin the season.
Texas has 7:30 games this Thursday and Saturday against the Topeka Roadrunners at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco. Partial season ticket and flex pacakges are also still available for as little as $80. For more information, call 972-335-9800.
