Justin Greenberg named NAHL South Division Star of the Week
The North American Hockey League announced its Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Combat Hockey on Monday, honoring Justin Greenberg as the top performer in the South. Greenberg scored 1 goal and 7 assists during the four-game event and is currently tied with teammate Jackson Leef as the two highest scorers in the league.
Greenberg had points in all four games this week, though had just one assist in both the Tornado's 7-1 win over Michigan on Wednesday and a 6-3 victory over Fresno on Thursday. He assisted on four goals on Friday in Texas's 5-3 win over Janesville, before getting himself in the goal column with a goal and an assist in Saturday's game against the Coulee Region Chill, which the Tornado won 4-3 in a shootout. Incidentally, Greenberg's goal was scored in nearly identical fashion to the overtime marker he scored in May, which clinched the Robertson Cup for the Tornado. It came after C.J. Reuschlein took a shot from the top of the left-wing circle that was stopped. Greenberg drove straight to the net and went top shelf with the rebound for the goal.
You can catch Greenberg, along with the rest of the Tornado, in action on September 29th when the Tornado play their home opener against the Wichita Falls Wildcats. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:30, though the Tornado will be celebrating the occasion by raising their 2012-2013 Robertson Cup National Championship banner before the game.
