400: Tony Curtale reaches another milestone
Since being named the first head coach of the Texas Tornado in 1999, Tony Curtale has been a fixture behind the bench. After Saturday’s 4-3 win over the Topeka RoadRunners, he picked up a milestone win.
Though Curtale remains just one victory behind Mike Hastings in his chase to become the all-time winningest head coach in United States Junior Hockey history, Saturday’s win gave him 400 as the coach of the Tornado. That feat is matched only by Hastings, who had 460 wins with the Omaha Lancers of the USHL.
Curtale’s next chance to reach the overall United States Junior Hockey record will be in Corpus Christi, where the Tornado will play the Ice Rays on Wendesday and Thursday at AmericanBank Center.
